Warts are common skin diseases that most usually appear in children and young adults in areas of the body that are frequently wounded. Deep-freezing or cryotherapy has the advantage of being safe, rapid, and painless, with no chance of scar formation. The wart is treated with liquid nitrogen during cryotherapy. There is no bleeding during therapy, and no dressing is normally required following the intervention. Depending on the size of the wart, it may need to be performed numerous times before healing occurs.

Removal of certain forms of warts with an electric appliance or cautery may be a rapid option. The electrocautery device is a high-frequency surgical cutter that is very useful for performing microsurgery procedures. The wart is removed after cleaning and local numbing, and a dressing is given to the wound. The treatment may cause little discomfort and bleeding. If you are using any anti-coagulant or aspirin-containing medicine, this treatment must be done with extreme caution.

If the dermatologist determines that neither cryotherapy nor cautery will be effective in eradicating the wart, you will be referred to a plastic surgeon, who will excise the skin lesion while you are under local anesthesia.
