Moles can occur anywhere on the body, in different colours, shapes and sizes. Some moles are present on the skin at birth, while others develop years later. Their development is mainly due to the UV radiation that the skin receives.
Checking moles - even without symptoms - is recommended annually.

Continuous self-examination of your skin is also essential, as it is the easiest way to spot warning signs, such as if your mole is itchy, bleeding, sensitive, etc. If you have had a mole removed, pay close attention to any changes in your skin.
Skin cancer accounts for 40% of all cancers. There are 3 types of skin cancer, the most dangerous of which is melanoma. Melanoma is the leading cause of death among young people under 30. It is important to undergo annual dermatological screening and reduce the risk of developing melanoma. Checking moles - even without symptoms - is recommended annually.

Whole-body mole screening: the presence of moles is usually not an indication of disease and most of them do not pose a risk to the wearer. However, even benign moles can develop into cancerous lesions, so it is important to be able to distinguish between individual moles. A mole check is a double examination, which means that our specialist will look at the mole with the naked eye and examine it with a dermatoscope. We believe that the good thing about an examination is not that it relies on as many machines as possible to make a diagnosis, since the machine follows a predefined algorithm and is therefore unable to synthesise, but that it is good if our specialists have considerable professional experience and can tell at a glance which moles need to be examined in greater detail and which do not require further study. In practice, this means that if there are many moles throughout the body, our specialist can tell the difference between good and problematic moles at a glance, so that the former do not need further examination, only the latter. If you do have a photo taken, you should be aware that you will need to keep a close eye on your photographed moles and have regular mole screenings.
Surgical mole removal. After a dermatological examination, the dermatologist will decide whether any mole removal is necessary. Of course, it is possible to have a mole removed even if it does not pose a health risk but is aesthetically unpleasing.
The removal of the mole is always carried out by a specialist surgeon and the removed mole is subjected to histological examination. The procedure is carried out under local anaesthesia and, based on the recommendations of the Hungarian Dermatological Society, the moles are surgically removed by excision. Removal by laser, excision or other means is not recommended. The excision of the mole is performed under local anaesthesia, which is closed by the surgeon with sutures. After the mole is removed, the skin must not be exposed to water until the sutures are removed and the skin has healed. Mole removal is recommended from autumn to spring.
