Consultation with a plastic surgeon: Your plastic surgeon and an aesthetic consultant will be with you throughout the otoplasty surgery. During your initial consultation, you will discuss the expected results of the procedure as well as if it is worthwhile to combine it with any additional face rejuvenation interventions.
Surgical procedure: Examinations prior to surgery are performed on-site; your cosmetic consultant will assist you in organizing appointments and preparing for surgery. The surgery, which will last 1 to 2 hours and will be performed under local or general anesthesia, will take place in our private clinic in Buda. The technique used and the duration of the operation are determined by the extent of the desired correction.
During the procedure, your plastic surgeon will create an incision behind the ear and, if necessary, a bay leaf-shaped excision. If necessary, a stripe of cartilage from the auricle is excised and placed in line with the cartilaginous arch of the ear to make the auricle fit more tightly to the skull.
After the otoplasty procedure, you will be monitored in the hospital for a few hours before being allowed to go home - with an attendant. If your cosmetic surgeon feels it necessary, you may be required to stay in the hospital for one night. Then you will be accommodated in a private setting, in an air-conditioned room with a bathroom. Here, you can feel entirely peaceful and safe, knowing that your plastic surgeon, consultant, and expert staff will be with you every step of the way.
Following otoplasty, your plastic surgeon will apply a compression band on you, which will aid in the appropriate healing of the auricles and their placement in the correct position. In the weeks following surgery, you will wear a compression bandage that resembles a standard headband. You can return to work merely one week following the intervention. For the first month after ear surgery, avoid any activities that raise your heart rate or blood pressure, and avoid hitting your ears.
